More about Palmkin / How it works

Getting to know the Palmkin app

Palmkin is about helpful AI with clear choices. This guide explains the Android app’s setup and the everyday decisions around a local conversation.

Choose a model that fits

The model makes your answers. Consider your phone’s free storage and working memory, not just its age or Android version. A smaller model can be a better starting point than a larger one.

Make time for the download

First setup needs a reliable internet connection. Leave enough space, keep your phone charged and let the download and file check finish. Pausing should let you continue from the same progress screen.

Try a short conversation

A downloaded file is only the start: the model also needs to open and answer on your phone. Begin with a simple request. Local chat does not silently send your question to cloud AI if something goes wrong.

Make a useful first draft

Try rewriting a message, finding a title or organising a few ideas. Say who the text is for and what tone you want. Review the result before sharing it; AI can invent details.

Choose what stays

Memory is off by default. Enabling it includes limited automatic saving of personal facts from your own messages. You can review, edit and delete them; switching memory off does not erase them.

Temporary chats stay out of ordinary history, memory learning and conversation backups, but may use temporary encrypted storage until cleanup.

Keep originals and check sharing

A conversation backup is not a full backup of your files, photos or memories. Keep originals separately. Sharing with another app or file service puts that copy under its own privacy and syncing rules.
